Matthew Hayes

Based in Cornwall, I’m Matthew Hayes. Founder, editor and host of The Insiders Podcast, a passion project I started over four years ago dedicated to all things surfing. What began as an idea has grown into a platform where I connect with surfers, shapers, and industry figures to share real conversations and stories from across the surf world. I live and breathe surf. A self-confessed surf nerd and board geek, I’ve spent years working within the industry, building a deep appreciation for every detail—from design and performance to culture and community. I’m especially drawn to alternative boards, regularly riding everything from asyms and twin fins to quads and beyond, always chasing new feelings in the water. Give me a clean 3–4ft right-hander and I’m happy—going left has always been second choice. Through The Insiders Podcast, I channel that same passion into exploring the people, ideas, and innovations that make surfing what it is.
