Abigail Crosby is a marine conservation leader with over 20 years’ experience protecting and restoring Cornwall’s coasts and seas. She is currently Senior Marine Officer at Cornwall Council, where she is the strategic lead for marine nature recovery, translating national and local policy into action on the ground and in the water. Abigail has worked at the intersection of science, community, and place-based delivery, previously spending more than 16 years with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, where amongst many projects spanning cetacean conservation to seagrass she founded and led the award winning Your Shore network, a programme that brought communities together to protect local marine environments. Even now, Abby remains connected and committed to the Network as an active committee member in her local group in St Agnes, working hands-on with volunteers on citizen science, marine and protection and public engagement within the Voluntary Marine Conservation Area. She believes lasting ocean recovery only happens when people feel connected to the places they care about. Known for her collaborative leadership and plain spoken advocacy, Abigail regularly speaks at local, national and international events, sharing how healthy seas, thriving communities and ocean users are inseparable. When she’s not at work, you’ll find her outside—on the coast, in the sea, or exploring Cornwall’s wild places with her family.
